Lest We Forget is proud to
host our second WWII Re-enactment, June 19th to the 21st. This year promises to be
bigger and better than our first successful event. Last year over 10,000 visitors
enjoyed the re-enactment that included realistic and authentic amphibious beach
landings, war birds, land battles and historic displays.
This year the two beach landings
will be followed immediately by a special event - a re-enactment of the Iwo Jima
flag raising on Mt. Suribachi. Medal of Honor recipient, Hershel Williams will
be on hand. Mr. Williams received his Medal of Honor for his gallantry on Iwo
Jima. We will also honor all WWII vets that attend. We have special seating for
veterans and their families.
This Father's Day weekend we
invite you to bring your father and family to St, Joseph, MI's Tiscornia Beach
for the start of the WWII Re-enactment 2009. The following link:
2009 Re-enactment Schedule
is a PDF picture document of the full schedule for the weekend. A printable form
of the itinerary is found here:
2009 Re-enactment Itinerary
You can download a PDF of the event
brochure:
2009 Re-enactment Brochure. The brochure will give you directions, parking instructions,
handicap accessibility and information on seating and viewing the beach activities
and all those taking place at the SW Michigan Regional Airport.
Don't forget that the weekend
includes the beach landings in St Joseph and land battles, war birds and aerial
show as well as displays, food and fun at the SW Michigan Regional Airport in
Benton Harbor. See the brochure listed above for locations and schedule of all
activities.
